Current Class/Session Offerings
Most classes are provided over six to eight weeks and are designed to prepare participants for next level of instruction. All improv classes engage the last scheduled class as a showcase for friends & family. All skill levels welcome for all Level 1 and select Level 2/3 classes. Questions? Ready to laugh, learn, and unleash your creativity? This six-week Level 1 Short-Form Improv Comedy class is the perfect introduction to the art of improvisation. Whether you’re looking to build confidence, sharpen your wit, or just have a blast, this class is designed for everyone—no experience necessary.
Through fun and interactive games and exercises, you’ll learn the core principles of improv: embracing "yes, and," active listening and building upon the ideas of others. Our experienced instructors will guide you step-by-step, helping you develop the skills to play in the moment.Each week focuses on a different aspect of short-form improv, including:
Building trust and support and experiencing "group mind"
Spontaneity, creativtiy and confidence
Embracing a philosophy of “there are no mistakes in improv”
At the end of the course there will be opportunities to perform on the Flipside stage. Come laugh, learn, and make connections that last far beyond the class.

Fundamentals of Improv: Long Form Pattern & Heightening
Look, we’ve all been in scenes where the thing is kinda there, but no one really grabs it, and suddenly we’re ten minutes deep in a teaching scene, or a transactional scene, or an improvised corporate meeting. Let’s fix that.
This class is about exploring the different lenses for improv. Sure, there’s “the game of the scene” But there are other lenses, too. We’ll work on:
Spotting the weirdness
Making it weirder
Slow burn weirdness
Understanding beats
Edits that don’t suck
Different flavors of scenes
Come ready to mess up loudly, laugh at yourself, and (accidentally) stumble into some of the best scenes you’ve ever done.

Stand-Up Comedy Level 2: Sharpen Your Set and Command the Stage Ready to take your comedy to the next level? In this class, we’ll focus on turning your solid 5-minute set into a polished performance. You’ll dive deeper into the art of delivery by exploring body language, stage presence, and the dynamics that bring out the funny in every situation. Learn to fine-tune your jokes with expert editing techniques, troubleshoot with precision, and gain valuable weekly feedback through practice. Whether you’re gearing up for the mic or refining your comedic voice, this class is your next big step in owning the stage with confidence and laughs.

Beginning Musical Improv

Are you curious about musical improv? This class will give you a chance to try it out!
All participants will learn how to make up songs on the spot. You will practice song structures that are easy to master and really catch the audience’s attention. A live accompanist will play for all classes!
There will be an emphasis on the solid scene work you need to go seamlessly from scenes into songs. What makes a scene ripe for hopping into a song? Good relationships, listening and investing emotionally make songs easier to come up with and more entertaining! We will do lots of reps so you can sharpen these skills.
Individualized coaching in a supportive environment will be given to all students. You will come out of this class not only with some solid techniques for doing Musical Improv, but in addition you will feel good about what you’ve accomplished!
Whether you like making up songs, enjoy singing or just want to see if you’d like singing while doing improv, this class will be lots of fun!
Some experience in improv is helpful.
